Most do not contain soy. Any probiotic supplement should be fine for you as long as you check to make sure it is soy free or does not contain other allergens you may be sensitive to.

Many foods are naturally prebiotic...I will try to add an article about prebiotics soon to explain how those work with probiotics.

I just wanted to post a brief comment, I did Dr. Dahlman's protocol and my poor family put together the money to make it possible and it never did one bit of good for me. I hope others do not waste the money on it.

Great question Marilyn!

Yogurt is made by adding the live cultures to milk. So while the milk is typically pasteurized prior to adding the cultures, it is generally not pasteurized afterward.

There is a lot of helpful information about yogurt and making it at this site:

<a href="http://homeyogurtmakers.com" rel="nofollow">HomeYogurtMakers.com</a>.

Hope that helps clear up the confusion a little for you!

You are welcome Jayne! The book is very helpful in understanding things like probiotics and food allergies and the rules they may play in IBS. However, in order to follow his protocol, you will need to either purchase his supplements (which are very expensive and no guarantee to work) or find your own comparable supplement (not always easy to do!)

Anyways, I am glad our review might help you in finding answers to the puzzle - that is why we made this site!
